When I Feel Free Around You

Writer : Annabelle Bok

The way ahead
Seems shrouded with shadow
Haunted
With the flitting ghosts
from my past
Obscuring my view
of journey's end

I feel blind
My instinctive
Adherance to the natural
forms the scales
That lid my eyes

In the dark
I scrabble feebly for support
But find nothing
And I dare not take another step
I can't see the ground
I can't see a path
For all I know I may step into
Nothingness
And fall forever

But there are pinpricks of light that I see
And I realise
They are inside, and not outside
I am not seeing them directly
As much as perceiving
And I remember You
And I remember Your promise
And I cry out Your name
And Jesus

You answer.
