Deep Night

Writer : Annabelle Bok

Deep night, and the stars have all been obscured by the
Glitter of modernity
Signs of our lives on this
Tiny island

I have seen these deep-night hours before
And am their frequent companion
And in the darkest moments
Another comes to stay

Solitude, I love thee
In deepest night we meet
Your presence brings me quiet
Your presence brings me peace

Gliding thoughts surround in this otherworldly time
And I am paused
And slow movement lights a lonely path
Lulled into silent slumbers
Held in by gentle dreams

Deep night, and the hours gather
In slow and stately dance
And as they take their silent leave, in time
I know the dawn has come.
