INSIDE >> Issue 10.2006 "Reality"

The Rapture at Mannheim by Lars Watling
Editorial ________________
in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:52, NIV)
We backtracked and added the editorial to the issue. We added a verse that might go along with the image. We thought it would be grand to imagine what the world looked like, diminishing before our eyes as we rapture to heaven.
What then, is earth? What then, is real? Remember that "in a flash", even the dead will be resurrected to immortal bodies. That means that what dies today may live forever just as the sun which rises and sets daily will one day disappear. The fluctuation of life plays before our eyes like a mytery, cajoling our interpretation of what is real and probably, what matters to us right now.
The things that we hold dear - values, homes and loves - will fade away. "In a twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet", I believe that we will no longer miss them just as they will no longer be necessary, because as we now live in Christ, to die is gain.
We seek what is lost and we will lose that which we hold dear. And what is truly, truly good can never disappear - only they resurrect with such reality that our earthly eyes and ears can scarcely imagine on this transient, obdurated screen.

Making Sense of The Mind by Steve Turner , paraphrased and quoted extensively by Dawn Fung Steve Turner states a concentric circle model of work that Christian artists engage in. Is this realistic?
