INSIDE >> Issue 01.2007 "Rebirth"

Pink by Hannah Teoh

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. (John 3:5, NIV)
This issue is themed Rebirth because the articles coincide with renewal or regeneration of some sort. I remember Darlene Cunningham's message at the Nations2Nations Consultation in Amsterdam, Holland. She kept asking us via the video conference, "Are you really born again?"
To a roomful of Christians this question came across rather simple. But Darlene's point was, if you knew what it meant to be born again, you would not settle for anything less than kingdom life. And we know that life looks nothing like the stuff around us. A life of Christlikeness embraces celebration, suffering, joy and pain in the foundation of following the Lord at any cost.
For us in the arts, that means the choosing kingdom values over the ones in the world. It means considering others better than yourself, loving the diversity of colours and forms, praying for the lost and sick in the studio or hall, being proud of Jesus Christ wherever you are.
Are you really born again?
