INSIDE >> Issue 01.2007 "Rebirth"  Pink by Hannah Teoh EDITORIAL ________________________ Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. (John 3:5, NIV) This issue is themed Rebirth because the articles coincide with renewal or regeneration of some sort. I remember Darlene Cunningham's message at the Nations2Nations Consultation in Amsterdam, Holland. She kept asking us via the video conference, "Are you really born again?" To a roomful of Christians this question came across rather simple. But Darlene's point was, if you knew what it meant to be born again, you would not settle for anything less than kingdom life. And we know that life looks nothing like the stuff around us. A life of Christlikeness embraces celebration, suffering, joy and pain in the foundation of following the Lord at any cost. For us in the arts, that means the choosing kingdom values over the ones in the world. It means considering others better than yourself, loving the diversity of colours and forms, praying for the lost and sick in the studio or hall, being proud of Jesus Christ wherever you are. ARTIST ________________________ DREAMING OF AN ARTIST : DONNA ONG interviewed by Yang Ming "People often conceive that my works are morbid...Yet my work is an extension...there is a God at the end of the story." Artist Donna Ong needs no introduction after all the rounds of interviews on TV and print. Yang Ming met up with Donna at her studio at Mayo Street to talk about her works at the Singapore Biennale (SB) 2006 and her journey as a Christian in the arts.
