Issue 03.2008 > Yonder
Yonder, as put by Siri Hustvedt is not here but not yet there. It is something like this : The window sill is here, the tall building is two blocks away, and yonder is the space after the sill, before the architecture.
Yonder is analogous to our earthly transit, after we have repented and just before heaven. It is our writing, tentatively capturing a hint of supernatural reality ; it is our acknowledgment that a part of self erases under the skilful preparation of the Master.
An "on the way" is desirable. A little further and another yonder, our context reframes our paradigms, and makes clearer to us what we left behind. Forward then, soldiers and saints, hold fast the banners and enjoy the coffee.
shalom,
